With my 1980 FJ40, I did the classic no-no, of backing up a Hill with the steering cranked, and BANG !!!

Limped the next 40 odd miles to the trail head, with a clicking in the front right side axle/wheel area

Not sure exactly what went bang, but pretty sure it’s the “usual”, one would expect when doing a classic no-no

Once I tear into the axle, I’d like to have the parts on hand to finish.

Can we say at this point we know what needs to be replaced without first tearing into things?

Has anybody posted a parts list for this rebuild ?

For those that have done this project, about how many hours to do the job the first time ?

you will likely need a cv joint. Different length shafts left or right. May as well do axle seals, king pin bearings and wheel bearings while your in there.
Its a slow messy job, but not too difficult.
