Question 1: The Clutch Release Fork boot is not sitting properly in the bell housing. Is this an issue? Is it for dust and/or moisture protection? Can it be sealed back to the housing with some sort of adhesive?

Question 2: A secondary steering damper is u-bolted to the front axle. I have never seen this on other FJ40's. Would the previous PO tried to reduce steering play by adding the second damper or another reason?

Thank you for all the help and feedback!

1. I'd get the boot to seat better and/or replace. They are easy to find.

2. That steering damper style is/was very common from Rancho, Pro-Comp, etc. It was the standard when folks couldn't find the correct OE replacement damper or they were running Saginaw/Scout power steering.
