Someone with more knowledge will hopefully give you some guidance, but, the adjustment on the box, the one attached to the steering rag joint, only needs a small amount. Seems like an 1/8th of a turn or so. Too much and you will damage the box.
 
Its also recommended to do so with it turned fully one way or the other...as it will be worn on center and tightening it up there could cause it to be over tightened once its turned off center.

Maybe easiest to do that way. Of course you have to turn steering back and forth between adjustments, feel the resistance/slack, trying to find the ”sweet spot”.
