The IA4WDC has entered into the State Fair Parade, as an entrant, we can have up to a total of 12 vehicles, Tall Corn has requested 3 spots, so if you are interested, please let me know.

The date is August 6th. I'll have more info on the time and where we need to meet as details come out.

I'd like to do this, but I think it might be a little too close to the baby's due date.

My topless troopy seems like a natural... we could put a bunch of kids in the back and throw candy, etc.

or maybe some of the wives and see if they could get the audience to throw beads??? :-)

Not sure I'm available but someone else could drive it...

Looks like the parade starts @ 6:15 PM that night...not sure on what time we need to be there! It would be great to have a classic in the parade!

Lance saw the incident as a kid! Lady on horse back- horse slipped on a butter scotch disk- lady and horse went down. The lady split her head open about 8ft from him. He grew up on Locust.

Yuck. I hate those butterscotch things....

Eric, that would be stellar if you'd like to join us. Right now, it's Larry and I in our FJC's, so having a little bit of LC history to show would be spectacular! PM me if you are in and I'll get you more details, time and place to meet as it's given to me.

Art, what time is the parade?

What do we think about who to ride in the back of the Troopy... I've got seatbelts for 8 but have had as many as a dozen 12 year olds riding back there. I'm thinking it would be fun for kids... I can fill it with mine and their friends but wanted to offer it to club member kids too. Maybe one or two adults to help keep them in line.

Any interest?

Details

Got the info for the state fair parade. It begins at 6:30pm and are supposed to arrive at 6pm
serv
to staging area 2 via Court Ave and Dey St. I made a map showing where the staging area 2 is and where to go to get to the parade start. The parade ends at 13th ST and Grand Ave.

Right now it's Eric, Larry and I. I've been told we can add 1 more if we have any interested parties.

From the IA4WDC organizer for this:

"I know for the 4th of July parade we meet somewhere else then convoyed to the staging area. I think this makes it easier to all get in line at the staging area. Maybe the old Bud Jeep parking lot along Walnut ST. at E 3rd ST at 5:45pm? That will give us 15 minutes for round up then go to the staging area at 6pm."

e-mail me at packman73 at gmail.com if you need my cell number to contact me tomorrow.

I'm planning on meeting the group at the old Bud Jeep parking lot at 5:45.

I've made plans for all the kids to arrive based on the previous info you'd provided, so unless it is a problem i'll just catch up with you at the staging area at 6:00 or so.

thanks

See you at the parking lot, Art. I am bringing a friend along.

Well, the parade has come and gone...we had a nice showing, Eric S in his 45 troopie, loaded to the 9's with kids, Larry in his FJC and me in my FJC, along with 5 of the JOCCI members Jeeps. I didn't get any pics during the parade, but did get some of us lining up. We'll have to do it again next year and hopefully get some more Tall Corn Cruisers in the line up.

Looks fun! I just got back from the fair today and I could not believe how many people where out there this morning. There was traffic backed up half a mile on 235 east at 7:15 this morning!

Yeah, I've lived on the east side all my life and I've never seen fair traffic like I did this morning. I guess free admission until 8:30 AM will do that...
