is this hooked up correct? the bottom wire goes to nothing and nothing else is hooked up....new plugs and I cannot get it to start. would this be the possible culprit?

Large wire goes directly to the batt pos terminal. One of the small wires comes from the key. Use a testlight and see if the small wire has juice when key is in start pos. Check all the connections. Let us know

Sorry man, I can't get the picture of what you're asking. Can you get a better angle on the wires/connectors you're talking about?

The black wire with the white stripe goes to the small (+) terminal on the solenoid. The other small one must be a ground. Try jumping with a 10-gauge wire from the starter cable to the + terminal on the solenoid - starter should run (hold the wire on the solenoid terminal & jam the other end on the battery cable terminal - it's gonna spark!).

If the ignition's on, the engine should start. Make sure it's not in gear though.
