I've got a coolant leak I'm trying to trace and need a pressure tester. I'm going to buy a Stant 12270, but don't know which adapter to buy ( link ) .

Anyone know which one will fit? Stants lists multiple ones for overlapping years.

1985 FJ60 -- Just bought and towed 70 miles and sittin' dead in my driveway and tryin' to bring 'er back to life! Don't see any obvious coolant leaks and oil seems water-free. Plugs were ok.

Search was fruit-less

Thanks. :bounce:

I have the Stant tester. I purchased my truck with a leaky radiator installed and the PO pulled a "spare" radiator out from under his house. I had the spare rebuilt and installed it. I tell this story because the radiator cap sizes on the two radiators were different. The one that is installed now (the rebuilt spare) has what I consider to be a standard sized cap--this appears to be the same size cap that was used on every american car from the 60's and 70's. The stant pressure tester does not need an adapter to test radiators with the "standard" size cap. I think stock for my 1985 FJ60 was the standard size cap because I have ordered a replacement cap from toyota and it fit the rebuilt spare radiator. The leaky radiator that was installed in the truck when I purchased it had a smaller cap.

In short, I don't think you need any adapter for the Stant to work with your 1985 FJ60.

May be an aftermarket radiator: Can't find any Toyo markings on it, and the standard size didn't fit... Had to use an Autozone (free rental) 45mm adapter..
