nevermind, used a piece of wood, a chopstick and a clamp, worked beautifully........
I'm intrigued by the chopstick. Was it plastic or bamboo?

Bamboo baby. I know it is a bit ghetto but I was in a pinch. It was way easier to get consistent readings off this contraption than trying to get vernier calipers into the master cylinder recess squarely. I kept getting a different reading when I was using just the calipers. At the end of the day everything was spot on (new MC and new BB) and I did not have to adjust the BB pin, but it was nice having piece of mind.

Your using that to measure the push rod, correct? I alway have a hard time as well with the caliper gauge. I have put a dab of grease on the pushrod end before and kept adjusting until it smooshed it.
