OK, because I don't have money by now, Well, not to much ! ...

... I'm looking for 70 serie rear sunspension leafs spring... used.

Mine just broke this afternoon ... and I know the master leaf of a spring pack is the most $$$ to remplace.

But I will also look around here next monday...

... And because a 70 serie is pretty rare... Any cross referance for the local spring shop ? Any spec for the rear sring where I can find info on the web ? (In fact, I already saw a web page for the spring spec... but can'y find it yet. Can you ?)

Thank.

Well, I found this here : http://www.off-road.com/tlc/faq/frame.html

Is this is the rear master "leaf" lenght : 1156 mm ? (or it's the distance between holes ?)

... is that information can help a good springs shop ?

Rear leafs are the same as a 60 series as well David. That'll make things easier.

Mmmm. I like to read that :)

Then.. what about the front ?

Is a front 6X serie can fit for a REAR 70 serie ?
Is a front 6X serie can fit for a FRONT 70 serie ?
And what about 40 serie...

Tell me more about cross reference if you can.

Thank

talk to Mike Gozzard, he is in Ontario and he has 3 or 4 old 70s sitting there, he might be willing to part with a rear set...
search Gozzard composites

Nothing really crosses for the 70 series fronts. A 42 rear is close if you are in a pinch.

Its a long way and not much help but there is (don't tell anyone ;) )

In Vernon, BC ....... BJ70 at Interior Auto Wrecking (1969) Ltd (250) 545-2104

May have some springs on it....

All the best with your Quest...

GB :)

Any thought about the 75 or 79 serie springs for a 70... ?

Rear and front... ?

I know a mine truck company like ENS ind. who selling PZJ75 and HZJ79.

Sorry for asking and asking... I need the maximum info befor starting to look around.

Thank

Well... because a master leaf cost around 230-255$ maybe I will check for a OME leafs springs... so

259$ (cdn) for a rear OME sings and 230$ for the front... is it good price (not install) ?

and is this OME springs (2 - 2½" lift) can fit with my BRAND NEW OEM shock ?

thank.

Not well. They'll limit droop badly and likely fail in short order. Buy the whole kit (~$1800) and don't look back or wait till somebody has some good stock takeouts from a JDM that they'll sell you cheap. What exactly do you need? One main leaf and one mil wrap leaf for the rear of your BJ70?

Ah tabarnak ! (swear !)

I need the main leaf (the one holding the bushing).

That realy piss me off because I have new bushing, two new greasable shackle, new OEM shock new link kit and almost new damper !!!!!!!

... Greg_b : the supplier is near my home so no shipping cost. Thank anyway... maybe I will call you... maybe.
... lowendrau : I'm sure buying a kit is the best way to go... but, I'm looking for a house by now and... my Cruiser will be happy with a new paint job insted of a new lift kit.

Ahhh Landcruiser, is THE WAY TO GO........................ before it broke !

And.... is 259$ is a good price ?

The only thing that crosses on the front of 70 series is the spring pins are the same (in the front only) as a 60 series pins. 75 series front springs are the same as 70 series however based on engine used they will have different number of leafs.

Maybe... maybe I will go with 60 serie spring (like lowenbrau sugest). But these spring are not exacly the same... almost .. but not the same. My diff will be 35mm foward.

Is the drive shaft can support that little difference ? I figure yes ... because the yoke is there to compensate ?

if the yoke is too compressed then there is a chance of snapping off the reay output on the t/case or the pinion on the rear diff.
that is 1 1/2" compression that you are talking about. i would see how far your slip joint is compressed already.
cheers

How can I check this ? Remove the drive shaft and press it to the tcase and see how compress can it be ?

oops forgot spell check...
snap off the rear pinion...

yes, measure the rear driveshaft as it is now.
undo the rear driveshaft from the pinion companion flange, remove the grease nipple and shove it as far ahead as you can and remeasure.
this will give you the travel...

David, is there any places in Montreal that build springs? There is one near me in Prince George. But I am sure there is one in Montreal. They could make just the piece you need. There is no way it should cost more that 150 for a whole spring pack when you get them made like stock. Okay 200 at the most.

But for the big leaf only 100 maybe,

Look in the yellow pages for spring shop in Montreal. Call them. Most shops can do custom work.

Thank for the recommandation brownbear.

I shop around,,, don't worry !

Every shop around tell me a metric master leaf cost around 150 to 175 (install) for a Landcruiser. Because Landcruiser is not so common here in Montréal... they waiting for you... you know... " Oh, a Landcruiser... this is rare... so..." they play a little bit on that.

I also check at toyota for the master leaf... 240$ A pack is 450$

So, because lowenbrau tell me the rear spring (in a lift kit) is the same as the 60 serie, I chose to buy 2 new 60 spring (stock) for 180$ each (not istall). Because every thing is new on my suspension, except for the spring, I chose that way. Then, they will put 1 leaf of my old sups into the front spring pack.

All this ( 2 new stock rear spring + 1 more old leaf on each front spring + job + U-bolt) for about ±650$. I think it's not so bad. Don't you ?

Every thing will be fix next week.

Salut
