Ok, I am attempting a SOA on my 67. &nbsp:Due to all the lovely winters it has been through several of the rear spring bolt (the ones that go through the eyes of the springs) we stuck. Even with an air hammer I couldn't get one off and had to torch it off. Anyway, Spector sells those things for about 20 bucks apiece. I was just wondering if I could use a regular bolt, grade 8, in there instead of getting a new pin.

While on the subject of the SOA. I was planning on doing a full on hydraulic setup for the steering. I was wondering how many people have done this and how they did it. Or just point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

I would just purchase the actual pin from a Cruiser shop or suspension specialist. SOR has outragous prices because they like to keep there parts :p.

Grade-8 bolts work just fine, as long as you round off the outside of the head with your handy grinder. Otherwise, they won't fit into the hole in the perch. You may have to use a pair of Vise-Grips to hold the head while tightening.

Ed, I think he's referring to spring eye bolts, not the center pin....I think....

I use grade 5's with no problems...and a 9/16" bolt with SOR bushings in there. Most aftermarket suspensions use a SAE bolt and not metric

There is a difference between grade 5 and grade 8 - it's a 10 page discussion best left alone...lol
