Today I went riding through my land and all of a sudden my speedometer stopped working. When I got home, I looked underneath and saw the wire hanging down. Something ripped the wires right out of the wiring harness. I have no problem rewiring the harness, but I don't know which wire goes in which place. The harness has a 1 2 3 on each wiring position. Can anyone tell me which wire goes in which position on the harness?

Greatly appreciated...

according to the 96 LX450 EWD

pin 1, yellow battery + from the 10A gauge fuse
pin 2, brown, ground point on the intake manifold.
pin 3, red w/green stripe signal out to the speedometer, ECU, cruise control and locker ECU,

This info may or may not be accurate on other years/models.

I have a 1995 TLC FZJ80 - 100k. That sounds like the wires so I'll give it a try. I greatly appreciate it.

I've always thought that was a problem waiting to happen. Anyone done anything to prevent it?

All I can tell you that RavenTai's help worked. I plugged in the soldering gun, followed the wire/pin combo, and I have speedo again. Thank you very much. Yeah - I can see this problem coming back. I wonder if there is a skidplate for this.... Anyone?

I am glad you were able to fix it,

it might not be to hard to fab up soem minimal protection for these wires,

something like a steel cable hard mounted at either end taped to the harness might prive enough strain relief to protect from randem sticks and what not.

heavier protection might require more fab work.
