Hi Folks

My beloved Lexy (1987 BJ-71) is in the shop getting a GS Cruiserparts solar converter installed and some work on my heating vents.

Once I get her back i'd like to start my search for a cd player...while i have no complaints about listening to the hum of her diesel chest....I wouldn't mind tuning into the FOX or playing my Kid Rock cd once in a while ;p

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for speakers....I notice that there are 2 spots in the front of the dash where they can be mounted....does anyone have any idea of the size? i'm guessing 4 1/4 but i'm not sure.

Would appreciate any suggestions or setups that you've used in the past

thanks

LAVA

I have installed a sound system in my fj73. I used a double din clarion head unit. It was very simple to install just remove the old hu and use the existing wiring for ground power acc and dimmer. I cbf pulling my dash apart so i installed my clarion 6" splits in the doors 6x9" in the rear panels and ran new speaker wire to them. I sounds great and it cost me $300 for a quality system. Since then i have also put in a 4 channel amp and a mono block with a 15" sub but u dont need to worry about them ;). Here are some pics. DSC00805.webpDSC00806.webpDSC00807.webp

I made a few phonecalls last nite....one of my buddies is coming with me to see his stereo guy on monday.....I want to see what he suggests.....your setup looks awesome and adequete for my needs.

Also the head unit im running is not brand new i bought it off a mate for $50 second hand but it comes with a tape player. I have the tape with the head phone jack on it so i can plug my ipod straight in also my portable dvd players for some fun.
