I have a ‘78 FJ40 and am in the process of ordering some new pins. I got the shorter bottom pin out this morning with a little persuasion. Once out, and after looking it over, I think there was a spot weld on the bottom of that pin, but not sure. The longer upper pin isn’t so easily persuaded. I bolted it to my shop table, welded some braces down to keep the pipe frame from flexing, put a huge “C” clamp on it with a bolt pushing on the bottom of the pin and then heated it up and tapped on the bottom of the clamp where it was pushing against the pin and still nothing. There’s not a spot weld on that pin, is there? I ended up cutting the head of the pin off and am taking a break from it. Any ideas or thoughts?

You may need a hydraulic press for this job. I did, years ago.

In my -81 those were welded a little at the end.
