Natural gas. I am a little hesitant to have the two huge tanks where the spare is supposed to be. It also really clutters up the engine bay. I have a few years but I definitely have to remove it before I ship it back to the states.

Natural gas is about 42 cents a litre here, vs regular 87 grade gasoline which is about $1.10 a litre right now. If the tanks have valid certifications on them, I’d have no reservations about having them on board. They’re no more dangerous than a regular fuel tank.

I dropped the LC at a local mechanic that I really trusted this week and am working on the following items:
1. gas system removed
2. Baseline a lot of the systems. All of the fluids have been flushed with new fluids.
3. I had the front knuckles inspected and everything there looks good.
4. Bought some new aisin hubs from amazon and they are getting replaced
5. Carb rebuild kit, disc calipers, rotors and brake master cylinder were ordered. Rest of the system was tested and cleaned. Rear drums had new kit and shoes put in.
6. Filter housing removed for cleaning and repainting
7. All new filters.
8. Compression and vacuum test done and everything is within in spec. I will redo this myself after the carb is rebuilt.

I would assume the spare tire goes on the rear door. There are holes for it, but the carrier bracket is missing. It is similar to a 70 series.

I think a spare tire on the door would be too much weight. When I get it back from the mechanic I will open up the door panel to see if it is braced. If not I get the holes closed up and painted.

Those holes can’t be for spare tire, you wouldn’t be able to open the door. Unlike the
70’s it’s the right rear that opens first. Wish I had utility doors, get tired of the tailgate on my 60

Progress is being made. The shop is working hard and has gotten the following done:
1. Gas system has been removed
2. Front knuckles inspected. They are still in great shape
3. new aisin hubs have been installed

While i am waiting on a few parts the shop called and asked if I wanted them to clean out the engine bay since they had some of the parts out getting repainted. I said sure, go ahead thinking it was going to be a power wash.

I figured it was time for an update. My 60 is still at the mechanics. Since the engine was out for cleaning we went ahead and cleaned/painted the engine bay. As you can see in the last photo, it’s beginning to look brand new.

When they took the 2F out they found some issues so we went ahead with a rebuild also.

Major setback yesterday. I went to pick my 60 from the mechanic and was really impressed it looked like a different car. However when it came time to start it the car had a hard time. I drove it a short distance around the block and it seemed ok. The mechanic assured me everything was in great shape and he guaranteed his work.

On the way home it died 15 times while waiting in traffic. The power steering went from great to nonexistent and the brakes got hard again. I called the mechanic back immediately and let them know this was completely unacceptable since the engine had just been rebuilt.
The came and got it last night and are checking it out now. I can’t believe they said it was perfect but it couldn’t even start without continuously pumping the gas and running the starter over and over.

It has been a while since I last updated. I got my truck back a week after having it go back to the shop. So far everything is running great (for a 2f at 9,000 ft). I have been driving it a few times a week getting used to its quirks. This weekend I installed two stainless steel battery trays and finally got around to installing a new radio. I went with a single din 9” yody android head unit. I liked it because I can hotspot it to my phone and have all the usual apps I use (google maps, Spotify). An added benefit was an included back up camera.
