Hi all, I have some bad rust at the bottom of my rear drivers side door. No shops around here will work on rust for some reason so I'm stuck doing it myself or sourcing a replacement door. I've never done rust repair so a new door seems like the easiest method. Does anyone have a good source for a 2008 LX570 rear drivers door? Vehicle is silver but I would take another color if it's in good condition. These trucks are so rare that finding one in a junkyard nearby seems extremely unlikely. Any ideas?

Things like that might turn up on car-parts.com.

With rust like that, it’s probably other places too, so it might be best in the long run to learn some body work. There are lots of products to at least temporarily make things look better.

you talked to body shops? And they said they didn't fix rust? And you live in the rust belt?
I suggest you call more shops.

There are 4 on eBay right now from salvage yards. No silver ones sadly (one is grey in case that's the color you meant to say). The 2008-11 door is nearly the same as the 13-15 I think, except the latter has holes for the side molding, so I'd probably stick with trying to get a 08-11 if it were me.

Yeah I've had several tell me they won't do it bc they can't guarantee the work will last. One shop said they would do it but not until summer.

Yeah Ebay is an option but I just haven't found any good matches yet and I've been looking a long time. The ones on there are in rough shape or the wrong color or both.

Not a 200, but I recently purchased a door for my Lexus sedan after I backed into it with my Cruiser.

I searched eBay and car-part.com, and noticed quite a bit of overlap between the two. I narrowed my search to a specific door that was for sale on both sites and called the company directly. The offer they gave me was better than the price on eBay.

There were no doors close to me, so I had it shipped freight from Mississippi to Colorado. Freight was more than the cost of the door itself, but it came secured to a large pallet and in perfect condition. Some freight companies have fees for bringing it to a residence or unloading, but this was delivered to my garage with no extra fees. (Estes Freight)

Before the purchase, I tracked down the VIN of the donor car and ran a Carfax to ensure it was a southern car with no accident history on that door.

Color match was perfect, and I highly recommend waiting for a matching door if you can find one in good shape.

Could you post some photos of the area of the door that is corroded? Interested to see how bad it is and the specific location that rusted out. First I’ve heard of this on a 200.

Best of luck sourcing a new door - which is what I would do if it’s rusted through.

Here is a picture I just took. My guess is water gets inside and can't get out. Maybe doesn't have a drain hole or it was clogged at some point? I'm not sure I've never really look for a drain gole

I’d first drill a hole in the door and see if water comes out. I would then grind, sand, prime, and paint. Worst thing that happens is you screw it up, and need to buy a new door.

This silver LX is being parted out on FB Marketplace, located in MD. Might be worth reaching out if you want to source a new matching door and be done with it.

Any chance you can post a link to the FB listing? I tries searching for this several different ways and can't find it

The link is in his post, but here it is again.

Yes, there are drain holes. It's a good maintenance item to look along the bottom seam of the door for the drain holes and poke them clean with a pick or similar (I use a segment of weed wacker line).
