North America was one of the few markets that the short wheel base 40 had a rollbar.
I would even say that NA was the only market that got a rollbar on hardtop versions.
Rest of the world only got rollbar on soft-top versions (or no rollbar at all).

FWIW, the windows only need to slide open a few inches to provide much ventilation. On mine, opening them further doesn't seem to help the airflow, except maybe when I'm sitting stationary.
That being said, I really like being able to reach in through the side to grab beverages or whatever.

I would able to source the parts cheap to add the pop out vent window and doubt I would ever bother installing sliders for the cost and possible interference with the OEM roll bar. Only plan on keeping my 68, 73, 76 and 79 FJ40s. 68 already added pop vent windows out in the hard top. 76 debating adding vent windows. 79 had them from the factory. 73 have no plans to add a rollbar but it's a FST so would be hard to add the sliders.

I had planned to convert my Feb/76 40 side windows to popouts, but just went back stock instead with new glass and weatherstrip. However if you or anyone else needs the body support pieces that the popouts mount to, I have a pair of oem ones cut from a trashed top. No idea on a price. Just shoot me a pm if interested. It’s these pieces on both sides (just a stock 40 photo, not mine):

/this\ I have consistently taken advantage of the side window access to my cooler, which I no longer have to move to get access to.

Hi guys,

Anyone know if SOR stopped making them? I couldn't find them on their website.
Also, does anyone else carry these sliding windows? Seems like there's decent demand for them.

Thanks

SOR never ‘made’ them; they had an exclusive distributorship. When the mfgr decided to stop making them, that was the end of the distributorship.☹️

What amazed me more about the mfgr is that they agreed to tool up the cab window for the 45 again for a time, and I was one of the lucky ones to get one of those before the window (pardon the pun) of opportunity on that closed again.

There have been a lot of businesses that have ‘pulled back’ to concentrate on their core money-makers over the last 15 years. I should know: I am one of them.

Got it. I don't suppose this is something that you fabricate or sell?

I imagine whoever was making them does most of their business making windows for RVs or truck camper shells. I have a Leer top with very similar windows (design, not shape.) The FJ40 windows were probably relatively low volume.

I myself am bummed because this was on my future list of mods.

Hi guys,
I did a little searching around and found this site that produces sliding windows for campers/RVs, and has a Series 900 model w/rubber gasket that fits the FJ40 look & feel.
motionwindows.com
Maybe we can combine our requests and put in a group order for discount consideration, although they're reasonably priced a la carte.

Let me know if anyone's interested.

Cheers.

Have you contacted them? Looks like a promising option.
