82 Toyota Diesel Landcruiser Truck HJ-47

Originally a RHD HJ-47 from Australia. Previous owner imported, US titled, restored and converted this cruiser to LHD this ~10 years ago. There is a link below to the build/restoration thread and I have a book from the previous owner with ~$45k worth of initial purchase cost/receipts. Most everything was rebuilt/replaced during the restoration with many of the parts being factory OEM Toyota. When I bought this truck I drove it from Hartford, CT to Knoxville, TN, almost 20hr drive and I have put a total of around 18k miles on this truck in the last 2-1/2 years, including several trips from Knoxville, TN to Florence, AL (~4.5hrs). This truck runs/drives good and is very reliable. Now for the bad, minor oil leak and healthy dose of body rust. This truck was driven up north after the restoration and has light surface rust on the frame and rust/holes in the floorboards & rockers. If you want a perfect truck the floorboards/rockers will need to be replaced or it will need a tub from the cowl back. So either drive the way it is (what I’ve been doing the last few years) or restore to your liking to be worth a lot more $$. Price is $18k cash OR may consider partial trade plus $15k cash. The only trades I’m interested in are four wheel drive Toyota’s (4runner, Landcruiser, FJ-Cruiser, LX-470, GX-470, etc) or Crew Cab Cummins Diesel. I don’t need any help selling. No emails, please call or text with questions/interest after you have studied the ad and the build thread (eight six 5 seven 1 nine 8 three 1 eight). Please don’t waste my time, especially with questions/info already included in the ad/build thread, thanks!

Parts replaced during restoration or by Previous Owner: 2H diesel (stock was replaced w/ one out of a Canadian HJ-60), Rebuilt front/rear axles both with disk brakes. Rebuilt transfer case. Almost new factory PTO winch (off a HJ-81). New OEM doors, hood, fenders/bib. There is a ton more, but this is the jist.

Specs: 2H diesel, H41 4spd manual transmission, power steering, 60 series tilt steering column, factory tachometer, 4 wheel disk, full floating rear axle, 4.11 gears front/rear, 4x4 labs high steer w/ DOM tie rod, Old Man Emu heavy suspension (springs/shocks/greasable shackles/bushings/etc), rear anti sway bar, working PTO winch, Aussie aluminum trayback flatbed w/ headache rack & sides that fold down, 16” stock Toyota wheel w/ 235/85/16 Toyo tires (~30-40% tread), Euro style side mirrors, FJ-60 seats, tuffy center console, 70 series front turn signals, factory fog lights. The engine has an AC compressor's critical mounting brackets and harmonic damper in place for the AC, but NO compressor, condenser, under dash components, etc.

Recent maintenance with receipts during my ~ 2-1/2 yrs of ownership: Radiator repair/cleaned/painted, water pump/gaskets/thermostat, power steering pump/lines, rear calipers/pads, parking brake cable, drag link arm/rebuild, rag joint (not installed),

Trying to upload pics, but having technical difficulties. I will try again in the morning...

I've just jumped through the build thread. I didn't read it all as I don't have that much time but it looked like the PO did a pretty good job (at least very extensive) on all the body work. You mention the tub is "bad". Do you have any idea why it went so fast? (other than the fact it was up north) I'm guessing others will have the same question so that's why I ask here. I know someone who just might be interested here in Tennessee but can't make promises.

Thanks.

Not sure why the tub & underbody rusted as the PO did all the bodywork. I think at one point in the build thread the PO mentions poor prep work, my guess is that with the combination of driving in salty/snowy areas. I think I found a way to attach some pics as pdf files.

Holy Rust Bucket!

All I can say is, Man, what a shame. All that work and it looks like he never touched it. I owned a 45 years ago and I kick myself for getting rd of it.
