I've never heard of K&N being an issue on 60/62s. On 80s its a definite no-no.
Oh yeah, one more thing. On trucks that use a MAF, if you over oil the K&N it can put droplets of oil on the air flow sensor, jacking the computer up something fierce..
Folks like to take this stuff a tad bit overboard.
Nice tracks of moab red dust running down a carb are why I am not a great fan of K&N's..

Lots of test out there for filtering ability of the K&N compared to a paper element.
Consider this tho. Most off road racers do not use K&N's they use large paper elements..
