I pulled the trigger and ordered a Safari snorkel last week. I installed it earlier this week. All went well. I didn't document it as it has been done before. Took me about an hour and a half I suppose. I even was able to tighten the back two nuts.
I am 6'0" and 150 lbs.n I reached in the same hole that the air cleaner assembly attaches to the snorkel and snaked my arm back there with a 1/4" ratchet. Wasn't comfortable, and I don't see how anyone bigger than me could do it. I also used the supplied plastic inserts for the pillar. Seemed to work well. I just drilled the holes and used a Dremel to make them square. I kind of rushed through it as well...I taped the template to the fender then took a punch and made a dimple for each hole to drill. Didn't second guess or double check
and just started drilling. Everything fit perfectly the first try. I was impressed. Stupid 3 1/2" hole saw wasn't cheap tho. Anyways, here are some pics of a snorkel ya'll have seen dozens of times. Also there are some pics as to why it wouldn't hurt to have it...
