Snow run - 1/29/11

I'm in at about 50%... We can always go over the top around FR 144 or to Gallina or Coyote.

so do we have a plan for this weekend? guessing we gets no snow, but could get out anyway. 9am N portal (err or 10 for shawn?)? route possibilities? i want to bring the fam if we can get the kiddo healthy enough to not make us all miserable.

well due to lack of snow and interest, Ash and i were talking about wandering around the placitas area... maybe down south to capilla peak... who knows...

If anyone wants to join us tomorrow, meet up at the Shell gas station at the intersection of North 14 and Sandia Crest Hwy at 9:30. This will be an easy day of just putt putting around the Sandias.

first of i forgot my GD camera...

well Ash and Izzy, Lynn, Steve and his extended fam, and my fam made it out. took the E route around the sandias, stopped at sandia man cave, walked over to it and then had lunch. Then wandered though placitas looking for legit dirt access... found none so Steve took is up to La Bajada where was saw half a dozen hang gliders waiting for the wind to kick up. weather was nice, the kids ran around up there for a while and then we headed back. all in all a nice relaxing cruise though some dirt and saw some new territory.

It's hard to believe the little town at the base was a one day drive from Albuquerque and people stayed there overnight so they would have the whole day to drive up the escarpment.

I have been wondering about that trail. I have heard about it before. The only pass up to Sante Fe? Been waniting to take that drive. Mabye next time.
