Interesting SM420 with 1.5 inch adapter plate. I believe this to be a 1962 SM420.
It has a long output shaft that tranny guru Georg says was a custom main shaft that used to be available for this transmission. It's the first one I've heard about.
Transmission is known good, has the desirable oil seal in the front bearing retainer.
Anyway with the adapter and the hardware, it's all set for a case swap. The 7:1 low gear by itself will turn an ok FJ40 into a killer 4wheeler.
SM420 and adapter: $200. Pick up in Sacramento. Good "3" speed case available with it for $150.
If you have questions about the main shaft, I don't know. The old school guys like @pardion or @orangefj45 or Mark at Marks off-road may know.
