:eek:Started to bend up my rocker panels on my 40 this weekend. Time to think about getting some sliders. Any pictures?

i'd like to see yours, and like to see anyone else that has some. i've been meaning to build a set too.

i like angle iron and trimed rockers like this

Mine are nothing more than 2-1/2" x 1/4" angle, tacked to the body and reinforced further in for crush resistance. I trimmed up the sheet metal on the sides until it matched the undertub rib in the footwells.

Here is a set I built, they are like the upnover's but not rounded. I wanted mine to look more like the original steps.

There is another po$$ibility if you don't mind the BTB price tag....course, for the cheap among us, it is something to copy from!!

http://store.btbprod.com/cgi-bin/btbprod.storefront Then look for the body accessories. (I am too dumb to be able to figure out how to post a picture...)

How'd you do that?? Must be magic!! :D Or the wonderful YABB coded magic..

when I rebuilt the tub for my cruiser I built rock sliders into the tub sides I used 1/8" steel for side peices which come up to the bottom of the kickvent and sqaure tube on the bottom also reinforced to the body crossmember and body mounts and the 1/8" floor!

That was really considerate of you to roll your rig to show the underside of the sliders !
Nothing surpasses the generosity of cruiserheads :D

I removed my rusted runningboards, trimmed the whole rocker panel and put in some angle iron. Here's the link where I got my idea from Eric Stegall: Land Cruiser Tech @ Off-Road.com
The bottom of the page with alot of pics reads:

These sliders look great! Got anymore pics and details? How'd you mount them? What material? Dimensions? Thanks!

Thanks 76 Toy! Bravo Eric Stegall, nice job, nice web site!
IMO gaining clearance without raising the center of gravity is waaaaaaay cool. I have basicly the same job sittin on the back burner. My FJ is too tall to climb in and out of with the mods I have now, that's why I went back to SUA. SOA will be back when I figure out how to keep mine a little closer to the ground, or way easier to get in and out of. Maybe detachable running boards would work. Solve the difficulty getting in and out thousands of times daily drivin, take em off to crawl. Hang 'em at easy in/out height.

Here are the ones my BIL Cody and I made for his rig. They are made out of 2x3x1/8 with the side bar things being 1x1. The 1x1 bars don't look very strong but they have held up to the weight of the cruiser falling off a rock about 2 feet tall right onto the very tip of the 1x1 that goes under the fender without bending at all. I think they are built pretty well, we are actually making some for another guy this week for his cruiser.

How they are mounted.

Nice job mixmaster & Cody!
