Slee Bumper, where did you mount the solenoid pack?

I've been considering a Superwinch model that has the solenoid pack mounted on top of the motor end of the winch casing. I don't mind trimming the light tab on that side but I'm still not sure if the box will clear the grill/valance. Anybody had success with this type of solenoid configuration? If I wanted to move the solenoid pack I would need to rig up some cables. Thoughts?

Rbdave started a thread about putting his smittybuilt xrc10 in his shortbus. He emailed me pictures of his set up and he was able to get the control box underneath the light tab but it was a really tight fit. I'd sent the link for the thread but I'm on my phone. I'll see if I can find the pictures and post them up

This is the only one I could find:

I know it's a different winch but hopefully this helps

That does help. I wonder if he had to re drill to move the winch slightly forward?

I don't think so. The only mod he said he had to do is to trim that bottom metal piece of the grill that is painted body color

I was thinking that might be necessary.

I don't have a Slee bumper, but when I mounted my front winch behind the OEM bumper, I relocated the solenoid pack in front of my primary battery under the hood

Then I mounted the remote plug on the top of the bumper, but also added a key switch that kills power just in case some kid with a paper clip wants to do some damage

Later on (after hitting a refrigerator on the highway), I upgraded to a BIOR plate bumper and did the same with the key switch and remote plug.

Thing is, I rarely ever use the hand remote cause I have interior winch controls :meh:

Didn't like the idea of an open top and prefer a hidden winch, so I lasered out a top plate with a clutch handle access hole

Also installed a 700amp solenoid under the hood that kills power to both front and rear winches as well as my Anderson plug for my jumper cables.

I recommend doing something like this, it will let you replace all the winch wires with lower gauge wire and will keep it out of the elements.

I did something similar, but it is not nearly as well done as 98SankeEaters

Also it is a lot easier to do before you mount the winch too.
