Slee 2" receiver system

Grench, FYI, it is not an either or proposition for the pintle hitch. i am using a pintle hitch draw bar for a 2" receiver and it works great. In fact I am thinking of putting a lunette on my boat trailer ;)

My hitch situation is one of my two remaining unreasolved issues.

I am currently using the Slee reciever that bolts onto the four existing holes in the rear crossmember. This gives me the ability to put on accessories, like my bike rack, which was an absolute must-have for me.

I'd like to be able to tow a 5000 lb boat as well. With my stock bumper, I'd just remove the tow hitch when I went off-roading, which was a pain in the butt, but was still doable. With my new Slee bumper, I'd have to R&R the bumper in order to R&R the hitch.

I'd go to the heavy duty Slee reciever, but I don't want to lose the ability to keep my spare under the vehicle. I keep the spare in the stock location most of the time, and I put it on the Slee interior spare mounting bar when I go on an off-road trip.

Everything works great, except that I now have to tow the boat with my new 06, which means two or more grubby kids and a grubbiy dad being hauled home at the end of the day.

If someone would make a very solid tow solution that retains the stock spare tire location, I'd buy two of them.

will a type 3 valley hitch not just bolt to the bottom of a slee bumper? You'd maybe have to prop up the bumper but the bolts through the cross bar would partially hold it in place during the process.

It's doable, but since the slee bumper uses the same bolt locations it's essentially an R&R of the bumper each time I put the valley on or take it off. It crosses over the line of what I want to do each time I switch from off-road mode to boat mode.

With a 5,000 lb boat behind it, I'd suggest checking out that DrawTite hitch I mentioned earlier. It isn't a plow like the OEM hitch. It does stick out the back a bit though, so be your own judge. You need a real class III or IV for that kind of load IMHO. Does the boat trailer have a load distributing hitch requirement & swaybars?
