Does skyjacker make two different type of 4" lifts... a soft one and a hard one?

Not as far as I know. Some people foolishly install over-stiff shocks, don't know why, possibly the macho man thing?????

Read in a couple of threads that you need to weigh down the rear end with 3 - 500 lbs of sandbags or whatever to break them in. Will be trying that out soon: my skyjacker softride ain't so soft.

Any spring supplier who tells you their springs have to be broken-in, or that they will break-in (loose some height) is not a company I would buy a spring from. Properly manufactured springs have a specific "set" during manufacturing, and sufficient memory to always return to that "set". But then you have to factor-in normal fatigue (spread over years of use) and down right abuse/punishment. Too often off roaders do not think they are abusing their rig because it will so easily crawl up a rocky creek bed, but then you have to consider that your Chevy Malibu will not crawl up a rocky creek bed, and even the slightest things you do with your 4X4 lead to premature fatigue/failure!!!

I had 4" skyjacker softrides about 15yrs ago. They were smooth riding & very flexible right out of the box. A lot of passer bys who watched the vehicle flex commented often. 1 front main spring finally broke after about 10 yrs of use. We put 4" sets on a few J##ps, they were just as flexible w/no failures. We used the supplied shocks.
