Not that I've anything particular against Slee's skid plate system for the 100 series, but is that it?!? Do we have no healthy competition in the market? I'm ready to get a belly pan for the t-case, but can't find anything but Slee's or a custom job.

Thoughts?

Has anyone put on the Slee Tcase skid themselves? I read about needing to do some "tooling" on the Slee website...at $500 I don't really want to spend anymore, and they don't list the cost anyway. What experience have you had putting it on yourself?

I have Slee's tranny support/t-case skid and his intermediate. IIRC I had to drill a couple holes in the frame for the mounting bolts. Slee includes the nut-sert tool, nut-serts and bolts to fit. It was a  job. My only complaint about it was the fact I had to get the die grinder out and enlarge the holes for the t-bar adjusters. But purportedly he's taken care of that detail on subsequent production.

And mine has the battle scars to prove it was a worthy investment!

I have the 6061 1/4" Rasta up front and its also done its job but it's now fairly distorted/twisted from the beating its taken. Steel, for me at least, would be a better protection choice for a few elbees more.

Well, call it demand and supply. It is not a huge market, so that is reflected in the number of options out there. You need to install nutserts. We can supply the tool, or you can buy it from McMaster. The manual ones are about $30.

Asfir is another but the front skid does not fit with the blueberry bumper without mods as seen in the latest 4wd Toyota Owner magazine.

I installed mine no problem with the cheap manual tool Slee sold me.

And on Spresso's point, yes the holes are corrected now. No problem adjusting my T-bars :D

I have slee's belly plate and intermediate skid plate. These are heavy duty skid plates that will take a beating. They really came in handy at cruise Moab. As some others in attendance can attest too, I wasn't the most graceful driver when it came to going up and down the ledges at Porcupine ridge. If you have any slee products you know of their "over-built" nature.

Installation was straight forward. The supplied nut-zert tool worked well. Remember, these are steel and are heavy. You will need others to help with the install.

I like the fact the Slee belly plate replaces one of the OEM cross members... cuz mine isn't looking too good anymore.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

I'll probably go with the Slee one, but it was nice to at least see the alternatives. The price point at BIOR is a lot more attractive, that's for sure.

Yup...just got back from my own Moab trip and not having this and a new front diff yet is what kept me on the moderate lines. That's okay, I got more familiar wheeling a 100 series...bit different than my old 4runner.

Iron Pig also makes nice skid plates. There work is very good.

I'm not seeing any on their website for the 100. Any pics?

AFAIK Iron Pig does not make 100 Series skids. I'm sure they would make some custom but I haven't seen or heard of anyone running their skids on a 100. That would be cool however since they are relatively local to me and a nice bunch of guys.

I have the BOIR skids. Super duty and completely bolt on. You do not have to remove the t-case crossmember or install any nutserts. It uses all factory bolt holes and bolts. They were put to use in Moab and didn't flinch. I highly recommend them!

Do you have the whole set, or just the Tcase one? It looks to me like they only sell it as a complete set of three?

I have all three pieces. Mike actually asked if I only wanted the T-case and front to save 70lbs. He will sell any part you want separatly.

I'm going to go with something like this but cover it with some 3M "carbon fiber" vinyl film. When I'm done you won't even be able to tell it's plywood. ;p

You will need others to help with the install.

Though its always great to get some help but I was able to do this install by myself with the use of my floor jack to lift the belly plate. I used the hundy bottle jack and a 2x4 to support the tranny while positioning the belly plate.

same comments as. glad the t-bar holes have been fixed. the slee include tools were easy to use.

I have the Slee front skid and it's very nice. However, I would suggest that you start bench pressing a couple weeks in advance to help ready your chest for the install haha.
