I was going to measure on my way out this morning but didnt up having time... Anyone know the size and spline count for the is joint out of a FJ-60. Trying to adapt my steering to the orbital.

Also thought about using the the oe center shaft but cutting one end and welding a coupler like this to the cut end.

Steering Couplers

agreed on 36 spline

but I measured my steering shaft as 3/4"

I have a new steering joint coming (hopefully this week) that is 36 spline 3/4" so if it doesn't fit I'll let you know.

yeah... that's what I measured too... 3/4. I ordered a coupler to go from the orbital (36 spline 3/4") and I'll cut the center shaft oe splines off and weld the coupler to it. Cheap and should do the job. The only thing I dont like is that the orbital will be kinda close to my headers... maybe I'll build a little heat plate similar to some starters have to deflect some of the heat coming off the headers.

11/16" 36 Spline

He's right, it is 11/16" ~17mm. The spline section is smaller than the shaft itself. The 3/4" 36 spline joint I just got is a hair too big. :frown: Looks like I'm back to the drawing board or breaking out my welder.

I got an 11/16" 36 spline x 3/4" smooth joint from Borgeson when I did FJ60 power steering in my 40 a few years back. IIRC you just pick what you want on either side of the u-joint from their list and they put one together and send it to you.
