Has anyone experienced the overhang/mold that retains the spring weaken or flatten out on the stem of the side mirror base? My mirror doesn’t lock in place anymore wondering if anyone has fixed it. I see a lot of aftermarket ones but don’t know if they will be metal like the factory or plastic.

There's this guy...named @NLXTACY you might want to familiarize yourself with. He makes a little kit that fixes this exact problem: 80 Series Floppy Mirror Fix - https://absolute-wits-end.com/80-series-floppy-mirror-fix/

edit: you should be able to find some new OEM ones too, pretty sure.

Yep, exactly the same problem here. I ended up buying a replacement mirror assembly from the mud classifieds.
