Shower stalls -- clearing the lower body/sliders

Looks amazing. What is your total projection from the rack mount to en-suite mount?

It sits about 6 inches out and can project a good 30" or so if desired. It would be possible to have it sit flush with the rack with a more sophisticated interface between the stall and the and the rods.

What I love about this system is that on the other side I can put something else to slide out!

Thanks. I meant when extended, like in the picture. Is that about 13 inches?

About 13 if measuring from the farthest out point on the rack. About 16" in terms of how much is telescoping out of the outer tube.

Minor revisions today. Stall is mounted a little higher on hits brackets now. Extends to 20" quite nicely. I could extend further, except I'm using an internal push button pin, and by limiting myself to 20", I can reach the pin from the same side of the car as the stall. To extend further, I'd need to locate the pin close to the other side of the vehicle or use only an external pin.

That looks great! Excellent solution and it looks well implemented.

Your v1 far more successful than mine @BloggerL
Looks like I need something toward center of rack to offset the extension. The facing on the bearings is only a couple mm, they have no chance.
LOL.
It does clear the rear door, so at least that part worked out.

@grinchy, well, mine took a few days to get all the brackets working right and to get a smooth sliding action. I guess we know why there's no commercial product available for this purpose!

Why not just use some 500lb slides? There are pieces designed just for this. Turtleback Trailers makes a shower that slides out just like this. I am sure you could fabricate a mount for the roof rack. Total kit runs about $600 from them.

In my case, I needed to mount my sliding apparatus between the roof rack and the roof. Very limited clearance, and additionally I wanted to use the existing slots on the underside of the rack. Plus, my apparatus is two-sided, meaning I can use the other side of the rails to mount items that slide out on the other side of the vehicle. Happy with how it turned out.
