Well, I installed an oil catch can recently (roughly 200 miles ago)
This is how much accumulated in that time.
Anyone know if this level of fluid in the jar is normal or too much.
The motor was rebuilt about 60k miles ago, its an FJ62 with 233k.
No other oddities or misbehavior.
I only installed it because I recently did the exhaust/intake manifold and cleaned 233,000 worth of carbon buildup out of my air intake chamber.

Any thoughts, reassurance, advice greatly appreciated.

from the color it is not all engine oil

from the color it is not all engine oil
What do you think Im looking at then?
Its been sitting for a week in freezing temps And used mostly on short trips.
Water Possible? The oil doesn’t have a bunch of miles but probably due on age.

my guess would be moisture, short trips will cause moisture build up internally
if it was all oil it wouldn't be separated in colors.
my guess is the top dark layer is oil, below that would be a mix that hasn't separated, different colors is different ratios of oil and moisture

What brand catch can is that?
Transparency is hood.

If it worries you, take it off so you don't see it. It's a 3FE. Looks like maybe a teaspoon of oil? That amounts to what, half a cup over a 5,000 mile OCI?

Yes, K Motor Performance
$27 on Amazon
I read the specs and realize that it has a 1.5OZ capacity so it's actually much less accumulation that I thought.
I'm relocating it to an area where is easier to drain on a regular basis.
After an oil change I'm getting mostly oil vs. the oil/water mix I was seeing at the beginning.
You have to make sure to seal up the connections with plumbers tape or similar so unmetered air doesn't get in an affect idle.

So far I'm happy with it.
