It has been in a wreck do the the FZJ80 bumpers and grille.

I think you can find one on the board that you know the history. it might cost you a little more but you will end up saving money do the little things.

Bad thoughts on that FJ80

Some red flags:
"dual airbags" - on a 92? Oh rly?
200+ K
Mismatched wheels. How about pulling a carfax?
It's a 92, so sluggish 3FE engine.
As stated here many times, you can easily drop as much as the buying price in baselining, so be prepared. What would be the use of this rig?

This grille sure looks funny.

Without a hands-on visual inspection I say pass! It has most likely been in an accident.

x2. Either a photochop, or they filled in the original "TOYOTA" lettering and glued a sombrero logo on it.

Looks like it has a questionable history. I would let this one go. If you want to pursue it insist on a carfax.

Pass.

You can probably pay a little more and get the better engine, with better/any known (maintenance) history, etc...

Good luck!

Don't listen to the dual airbags thing... half the time the ads are wrong, b/c they are generically filled in by the software program from the owner or the dealer, and whoever is responsible for checking off the options properly is didnt do it right. Anyway, if you can get it closer to 2k, that would be worth it. I would drive it nevertheless, perhaps check it out more thoroughly; the mismatched wheels concern me a bit... almost like the previous owner didn't have the money to maintain it properly... Anyway, g/l!

d5c5b,
I would for sure pass.
I had little money and really wanted an 80. So glad I waited. Some parts of the USA they are hard to find. The longer I looked the more I figured out where the best ones were. I had all my friends and relatives looking at 80's for me around the country. While here in Iraq I saw one online and had my parents look at it. My Mom"s exact words were"this is the one". I was talking to them on the phone while they were test driving it. My patience paid off. I honestly have never seen a better 93 out there and I got lockers too.
Be patient and good luck there are some really good ones out there. Even if you dont have much coin. But you might have to look outside your area.

Hold on, you trying to say that the 3FE is a better engine?:lol::lol:

Didn't you rebuild your 1FZ?:lol::lol::lol:

If that was directed towards me, then maybe. It depends on how you measure better. If power is the only concern, then the 1FZ is a better motor. If reliability is the concern, then the 3FE is the better motor. If you are interested in longevity, it's probably too soon to tell. If the measurement is based on maintenance cost, the 3FE wins.

Having had plenty of seat time behind both, I give the nod to the 3FE as the better motor. Were I to pack up and head across country right now, knowing that there is nothing wrong with either one, there is no doubt I would take the 91 over the 94.

Keep looking for a better example.
