Shifter hits lighter (1 Viewer)

I don’t see this addressed anywhere. My lighter works but is loose because when I shift in to 3rd gear if I’m not careful, the shifter hits the lighter because it sticks out.

I have a 1983 fj60.

Is this a thing? Surprised no comments. Maybe mine is out of adjustment? Thanks for the collective thoughts!

Check the bushing for the stick shift that inserts into the transmission. Remove the stick & examine

Mine does the same basically. I have a usb adapter in the lighter with a cord and it seems to knock it out. Didn't even think that it could not be a thing!

I have a USB adapter in my lighter socket and the shifter has never hit it and I've never even had concern about it hitting. I'd pursue what @OSS said.
