    This is crazy.

They just cleared the water again out at Portofino.

Sheriff Chopper and a Coast Guard Chopper......buddy just called and said this one's just as big as the hammer head from yesterday.

Wonder if the hurricane changed the bottom around to the point of driving more of them in shallow?

eh, i flew over all my surf spots in a helicopter...there are always way more sharks out there than you think, and they are always around. the only time i do go in after seeing one, is if the bait fish are running...

Bingo...bait fish move inshore in the summer bringing lots of other sea critters with them.

Fishing a pass the other day saw three large shadows moving towards the boat, thought they was tarpon.....ummm no, hammerheads, almost half the length of my 18' boat.

Ohhh that's just great! I'll be in Bonita Beach with the family for 2 weeks in July. My concern just shifted from hurricanes to sharks. Nogt sure what to tell the kids. Luckily there will be a pool where we are staying.

Backin the 70's when the CHP put in gas pumps at all their office locations, a 4' sand shark mysteriously appeared at the Fairfield, CA office in the hole that had been dug to place the fuel tank into. The hole had been dug but due to heavy heavy rains it hadn't been completed. It actually survived from Sat untill monday morning when it was discovered by the brass, even though the troops working the weekend knew about it being there. The press got the story and fish & game had to come remove it. Big embarassment for the Capt. and the CHP. Of course Sacramento conducted a huge I.A. & with no one ever coping to it, it just fizzled out and was forgotten about. There's alot of crazy crap like that which goes on in law enforcement Pretty funny I thought.

Is it ridiculously simplistic to wonder if more people are in the water? And that that might be factor? Prolly....just wondering...

Oddly enough, I grew up going to church with that 16 year old boy who was attacked yesterday and his family. He's the youngest of 3 boys (I'm older than all of them) and they're a great group of kids. He's still in pretty bad shape, so please pray for his recovery.

I'm headed down to Destin in a few weeks and, as much as I hate to say it, will have some reservations about swimming very much in the ocean. I fully understand that it's a million-to-one shot, but it hits a lot closer to home when it happens to someone you know.

the sharks are hardly starving, and ARE NOT looking to people for sustinance.

Hurricane Ivan shifted the ocean bottom around to the point of running bait fish in shallow water. What typically occurs past the second sand bar in 25 to 50 feet of water has made it's way in beyond sand bar #1 in MUCH shallower water.

Sharks don't eat people. People eat people.....

and remember....the news is no more than modern day soap opera madness...
