Trip:San Juan
Trip Lead: Kyle @PWCO70cruiser
Dates: September 3-8 (you are welcome to come and go as you please)

Meet-up on the 3rd:
club will meet at the south meeting location, Safeway at CO HWY 115 and Cheyenne. 8 to 8:30...
...
then meet up with the southern group at the Exxon (used to be Shell) station on HWY 115 on US 50 in Penrose. Say 9 am at the Penrose location? I'll be driving my FJ40, so it will be a slow go down there. Thought we could run Owl Pass to Ridgeway on the way down.

Camping location:
If you can't make the 3rd, just come on down when you can. We'll be camping at Gold Horn Dispersed camping area. (see MAP post #13)

The turn off is located 2 miles north of Silverton (it is marked by a small camping sign) on South Mineral Creek (FS road 585). Its on a left turn off into the camping area. I normally camp back in the far corner with a short walk along the stream (really nice area!). If you make it to the actual campground you've gone too far!

Communications:
CB channel 4
HAM Freq 146.460

I'm in (as of right now, who knows how the work schedule will pan out!)

Imogene, Black Bear, Ophir, Kendall Mountain, Bolam Pass, Corkscrew-California, Engineer-Cinnamon (Alpine Loop), Governor Basin, Sydney Basin, Yankee Boy, maybe Buffalo Boy, and maybe Stony Pass (maybe Kite Lake?)

Typically start from Woodland Park, then across 24 to 285 then west on 50 to Montrose/Ridgeway then into Ouray/Silverton.

Our group usually sets basecamp near Silverton (south Mineral Creek, I think is the name). @Stokes and I have camped twice on Corkscrew ( a couple of good places), and I know a few good spots elsewhere if you want to camp dispersed.

Eh, you are teasing me. :)
I am excited about this trip so I really do hope it pans out!

I am planning on hosting/leading this trip. At this point I think the dates are good, but I may have chemo treatments that week and may have to adjust them a bit...I'll check with my doctor about dates on Monday (Aug 12). The camping area on South Mineral Creek road is a free dispersed camping area called Golden Horn. It does have a pit toilet. I'll be sure to keep everybody posted!

I looked at the schedule and would like to shift the dates a day earlier...Sept 4-8 if that isn't too hard for people. Its really come and go as please. So is Sept 4-8 good with everybody?

That is a little tougher for me, but i think i can make it work. (it would be better to shift the schedule the other direction to 6-10) but it may work better for my brother. Ill get back to you.

I wanted to kick this trip thread a little early since the trip is a bit longer.

Who is in?
What trails are we running?
Where are we taking off from or where are we meeting?
Regular off trail camping or camp grounds?
I might be able to join this year. Will depend on work. Kyle keep me posted on any date changes.

I got a look at my schedule, and will take Sept 3-8 off. As mentioned before, its come and go as please and you are more than welcome to stay longer. So I will make this official...Sept 3-8! Hopefully this works for people...

I am good 5-8, and possibly 3rd and 4th but I have not confirmed it yet.
Where is the meet-up spot if I can get away on the 3rd? (Can I just follow you up)
Where is the meet-up spot if I can't get away until the 5th? (?basecamp near Silverton?)

Ok. Jeremy and I will be coming up on the 3rd (later in the afternoon) so we don't miss any trails that start on the 4th.

So on a longer trip like this, do we head i to town and gass-up a few times?

We will gas up just about ever day so we all have full tanks. Some may determine they don't need to, but me being in the 40...I'll need to! There is a couple places to get gas in town, we'll just hit the big station on 550. We'll see you down there on the 3rd!!

I’m planning on making this trip. The plan is to head down on the 3rd as well. May cut out on Friday and head to cruiserfest on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
