My son is trying to install a CDL switch on our 1997 LX450. He wants to install the CDL switch in place of the Alarm LED and Mic. We will then install the Alarm LED down below.

But for the life of us we cannot figure out how to separate these two connectors (the blue and yellow ones below). We have tried poking and prodding in various places. Nothing seems to work. Anyone know the trick?

I suspect that these might be aftermarket connectors, because I think these alarms might have been installed by the dealers. But I don't really know.

Thanks

Jared

PS-- if this fails the other alternative would be to just install it in place of the antenna switch, since the antenna is broken off right now.

Those connectors are evil and not your normal Toyota connectors. I believe you have to carefully pry up the part on the female connector to that lets the tab on the male connector slide past. I insert a small screwdriver to lift up and squeeze the sides as I pull. These can break if you pry too much.

The next time I have to deal with those, I will just switch them to a two pin deutsch connector.
