Hey guys we all know there is no secret here.
It is not reality with an 80, at least a modded 80 edit
This post is pointless and this has been discussed a million times

Kidglove,

It's obviously not a real "Secret". We all know that there are clearly limits on how good or bad the mileage on these vehicles can be. The point of the post was to remind us that our driving habits can have a large impact on our mileage. This impact is much greater with these rigs than with a smaller car.

In less than 1 day, this post has been read by almost 600 people who own these gas guzzling behemoths. If any of them alter their driving or maybe remove their roof rack for a trip that they don't need it, it will have served its purpose. I suspect that this post will save the 'mud community thousands of dollars and many gallons of gas.

What possible good can come of your raising the pointlessness of this post? Raising the bar on pointlessness, perhaps?

What, is this a joke?
Tell us all something we do not know already.
No wait let me go out to the garage and remove all of my mods to pick up another 3-4 miles per gallon
Call it what you will.:meh:

If you cannot get 15-16+ mpgs hwy out of a stock 80 on a consistent basis its not the driving there is something else wrong

Not really... Fuel efficiency was one of the last things on Toyota's "Worry-About" list when they designed these rigs.

I get 20 MPG:p

Diesel

Silence.

A well maintained 80 should be able to easily achieve 15 mpg hwy driving on a consistent basis.
I am heavily modded and get almost 14 mpg hwy driving.
So to say not really does not make sense.

Somebody here managed to work 18mpg out of a 3FE... Can't remember who it was, but they kept it very well maintained and drove it nice and easy. I, for one, believe it.

260 miles left me at a little below 1/4 from full...sorry for the confusion folks!

re-read your post
260 miles is to a little below 1/4 from full is about 1000 miles per tank - not confusing at all

DRIVING THIS TANK, 260 MILES FROM FULL TO A LITTLE BELOW 1/4 SOUNDS UNREALISTIC BRO?

Uh, guys, not all of us are math whixzzes. Ease up;p

Because that's the only way to save gas in an 80.

I can tell you, the 1FZ 80 gives you a lot more encouragement to get on the skinny peddle than previous versions. Your wallet will suffer accordingly. It's basic physics.

However, in many cases you can get decent mileage if you discipline yourself to do it. I know people who'd never'd get more than about 10 mpg if they owned the 80. That's way easier to do than to get 15 mpg.

Wowwwww
I Fill her Up all the Way............and Guess what?
That gets me where ever i WANT TO GO..............How you like That
