Hey I found two sets of seatbelts to replace my worn front belts on my 6/1979 FJ40.

One is from a 1977, the other is from a guy on this board with a 1981 FJ40.

Will either set work? I checked SOR and it appears nothing after 1/1979 is sold there? Online information is limited as to which set of belts fits which year. My hunch is that only the 1981 belts fit the 1979 style seats? I am correct?

thanks

Aaron

78 down should have fabric on the female end of the belt, just like the lap. 79 up should have a steel cable on the female end, and should all interchange.

thanks

thanks Mark.

I suspect the newer belts would be longer, due to the different mounting location on the tub behind the seat. The 77 belt mounts to the seat itself, while the 79 mounts to the floor on both sides. If you want an identical belt, use the 81's. They will be grey, like your stockers, while the 77's are black. I've used ccot's replacement belts on both years, work well, but only come in black.
