Hello Everyone,

I have a 94' Land Cruiser and am finally thinking of adding a 200 series. I've been looking at 2013 LC at a dealership, however, there seems to be quite a bit of surface rust on all the exposed metal connected to the seats, like the latches and seat frames. Is this a known issue and should I look for something else. The rest of the LC appears to be rust free.

Thanks,
Phillip

Never heard of that before, other than the guy that had battery acid spilled in the back of his rig. Even that only impacted the hardware in the back.

IMO whatever caused that seat hardware corrosion caused a lot more that isn’t visible behind interior panels and such.

Sounds to me like a possible flood vehicle?

I agree. The rust on the seat hardware could very probably be caused by flood water damage - also indicative of much more serious water damage where you can't see it.

I'd give that vehicle a hard pass.

Where is the car from? Seems pretty typical in the northeast, midwest, and Alaska. If someone has snow/salt on their shoes when they get in the vehicle they can get salt on the seat mounts and posts, resulting in surface rust.

This ^. I've had rust only on the back of front seat bolts where the second row passenger's salty/snowy shoes touch. If they are not all rusty, this might be the reason.
