I had the engine in my 1982 FJ40 rebuild by a local racing engine shop 5 years ago as part of a frame off restoration. Since the rebuild, I have only driven the truck 1,500 miles. It sucks when work gets in the way of your hobbies. Yesterday, while driving to Sandusky, I think I spun a bearing because I started loosing power and the engine developed a faint knock at idle. The oil pressure remained solid and the temp never climbed. Does anyone know of a quality 2f engine rebuilder in the Cleveland area? I think I can still get a short block from Toyota.

All thoughts and suggestion are welcome.

Wow, Jim C is right in your neighborhood, why look anywhere else? He did the 2F in my 40- from top to bottom. Very good work, very trustworthy. Jim has rebuilt quite a few carburetors for me, never ever had trouble with one. I use his smog pump eliminators, too. I highly recommend having Jim do your engine for you. Shmukster

Couple thoughts...rescue a 2F from a junk cruiser or consider a Chev 350 retrofit.

You'd be really foolish to go anywhere else when you're like 3 hrs away.
