Mine was scratched when I mounted the ski box too far back one year. Opening the tailgate the spoiler would rub on the box and scuffed it pretty good before I noticed. I live with it since you can’t really see it. It’s an 08 tho.

This makes sense. Very likely it was there when I took delivery. The rest of the vehicle is pristine. I haven’t used the roof rack to carry anything.I just took a long look at the scratches in your pic. The location of them, it does not look possible to do that while driving. Unless you were reversing through a forest. Have you carried anything in the roof rack? They don’t look deep and there are lots of small scratches like someone dragged a rope or a strap across the spoiler. I think the most probable cause is the truck driver that delivered it to the dealership did something with a strap or tie down. Or it happened in transport on the train from the port to wherever. I assume the rest of the vehicle is still pristine?
400 miles, I’d have the dealer look at it. They might replace the spoiler or have it repainted. It depends on how accommodating of a dealer you have. It’s not like a hood or a quarter panel where you want to preserve factory paint even if there is a blemish, it’s a chunk of plastic bolted to the upper hatch. I’d get it fixed, preferably for free!
Not a bad idea as a backup plan.Wrap the top yourself. Similar color or accent color. Easy job order from Amazon.
I’m sure that will happen over time!Get more scratches elsewhere to distract from those?
Now that’s a solid idea! I didn’t realize I could get a brand new painted spoiler for that price. Are you sure that’s correct? You can buy an OEM painted spoiler direct from Toyota for $500-550. I would buy a new one, leave it on the shelf, and leave the scratched one in place to take future abuse. Best of both worlds.![]()

If the body shop can do a quick fix for cheap I might go that route, otherwise $500 for a brand new part sounds like the way to go.

Nope, most people probably wouldn't even see the scratches unless they knew where to look. But my OCD knows the scratches are there...Or just drive it and enjoy it. Those parts will be readily available for years, should you ever need them. Honestly, are you ever even going to see scratches up there?
