IH Scout Newbie - Purchase Help (1 Viewer)

Hey all,

Have always loved IH Scouts and am considering picking one up for a mountain town / hunting rig. I'm no mechanic so please help me out. Specs listed below, really nice looking cosmetics but want to make sure its good mechanically. Fires right up no problem. Let me know anything I should be concerned about or asking seller. Engine: new seals, gaskets, plugs, cap/rotor, wires, carb, vacuum lines
Trans: fluids and gasket
Transfer case: fluids and gasket
U joints: new
Brakes: new rotors, pads, drums, lines, fluid
Front/rear diff: gaskets and fluids
Interior: gauges, upholstery, rubber floor, glass
Exterior: lights, wires, fuel tank, top, paint
Wheels/tires: new
Frame: scraped and coated
Suspension: new leafs and shocks 3" body lift

3 spd on a '79? That doesn't sound right. Would like to see some pics. In general, I'd say that it's not a good idea for a self described "no mechanic" to buy a '70's vintage truck, especially not a Scout.
