Hi all. I need tech support. I own a 1964 Scout 80 with a bad 4 cyl motor. I have found a 1965 266 ? from a Scout truck. will it fit in my Scout and will it bolt to my bell housing? Thanks for any help.

It's not as easy as just bolting in. Although the bell housing has the same pattern, it's kicked at an angle to fit the four cylinder in the recess in the firewall. You would need a different bell housing, and to do it right you would need to move the core support and corresponding crossmember forward about a foot. This is how International did it starting in 67 when V8s became available. I've also seen it done by hacking up the firewall, it's ugly and puts a whole lot of heat just below your feet. Look in the thread for my sons Scout, you'll see how a V8 fits in there. That's a 67 body that had a V8 originally.

I thought they didn't offer those 266 V-8's in the Scout until '67.
