Brothers and Sisters! BROTHERS AND SISTERS! I have decided to step out of the lurking darkness and into the IH8MUD light with this formal introduction. Two and a half weeks ago, the Good Lord blessed His humble servant with a Land Cruiser. It was made in the year of Our Lord, 19 and 94 and is the very best color, ie, the one my wife approved of. It is slate blue metallic and it is a thing of beauty. Say Hallelujah! It has the grey cloth interior, no running boards, and, like every created thing, has its flaws (no lockers). It lived for the first ten years of its life in balmy West Virginia before travelling to the land of Cheeseheads- Wisconsin; therefore, there is virtually no rust. Say hallelujah! After six days, the Land Cruiser rested... at the stealership. I wondered whether an exorcism might be needed, but they assured me that it was simply a blown PHH. Six hundred dollars later, it was fixed. Say ouch, brothers and sisters. Now it can be seen wheeling in the wastelands of Chicago suburbia.
I have only made the mud-mod, so far. Once it is paid for, there will be new bumpers- front and rear, sliders, an OME lift, a real roof-rack (not the POs Thule bars), a new stereo and speakers all around, GPS, and the list goes on and on and on (much to my wife's dismay
).
I've already had to replace the power antenna mast (yes Romer, I am still working on the FAQ) and the oil pressure wiring harness (the gauge still doesn't work, but that's a subject for another thread). I've given her a tune-up (big props to brother Dan for the parts hook-up) and she runs soooo much better. The starter rebuild stuff is on order. The axles/Birfs still need work. I'm pretty sure they've never been touched. Now I just have to impose on Gumby to have a shop day soon...
Hope to see some of the brothers and sisters on the trail someday soon.
