I purchased a Canadian BJ70 that had a rotted frame. Sheldon and Greg sold me a JDM frame, I had it stripped dipped and galvanized. It was the first frame off I've done. While I was there I installed a turbo kit, an Old Man Emu suspension complete, all new brake components, new fuel tank, new skid plates, all stainlees steel bolts, new 4 core radiator, rear brake disc conversion, complete exhaust, new fuel fill, and alot more that I can't think of. Decided to post a couple of pictures. Right now I am looking for after market bumpers front and rear.

well done!

I get so sick of watching all the bj70's die or go to the states for diesel conversion parts !

I'd love to do the same to mine, but the poor old things gonna have to suffer for a while yet...

( is that 4 highlifts holding up the body....???)

BJ70

I have an ECB Bullbar for you. It's for sale if you'd like to have a peek . . . I live in Coquitlam. Post your email and I'll send you a pic if you're interested. Hey, I also want a turbo but don't want to spend a fortune. Thoughts?

The body is being held up by 6 hi lift jacks. I made adapter extensions for the jack that had drill press vise on the extension and clamped them onto the body flanges in line with the mounts. Walk around the body and jack it up one click per jack till its as high as you want. I welded braces from the left jacks and right jacks thru the door opening to stablize them. I also drilled holes in the floor and bolted the jacks down. I welded the jack foot solid so it would not rock. The system worked better then I bargained for.

My email is jake2far@hotmail.com. Please send pictures of the bar. I bought my turbo kit from Australia, I won it on ebay for a little over 2000.00 dollars US. If you want to go cheaper you will have to build up your own kit from pieces. The hardest part will be an exhaust manifold. Possible Sheldon could help out with the manifold. I can't say enough about how much help Sheldon has been, G&S cruisers made it possible for me to do the rebuild on the BJ70. I will post more pictures of the project as it is my favorite vehicle to drive, it has become a fight between my daughter and I who gets to drive it.

Looks really good so far
I also got a new frame from Sheldon (sort of, he hooked me up with a CDN dealer and got a brand new one from them) but this was some time ago (like almost 8years ago  )and I still havent put it in yet

Your making me want to start working on it now

More pictures of the Canadian BJ70 project

People expressed interest in how I lifted the body so here are some better pictures

Engine & chassis manual for 73 series?

Hi cruiser lovers, last year I got a Landcruiser 70 series HZJ73 made in 1994 right handside drive converted to left handside, I have it in a remote island of the Philippines where I stay during winters and as you can imagine info & parts are very very rear. I need an engine & chassis manual & some parts like shackles & shackle bushings can anybody help this rookie ?.
Thanks
jglm
P.S. Canadian or US suppliers will be the best but, any country will do

Welcome to mud.

Generally you will get better responses started your own new thread. Putting a post at the end of this one won't get many answers. I suggest you make a new thread.

As for the manuals you can download them on here. See the Stickied threads at the top of the forum page, "online manuals"

MattF is the guy with the manuals.

Sounds like a major project. Nice.

I am curious what that does to the registration/title etc? Does it keep the same VIN? Is it now considered a JDM or is it still a CDM 70?

Love my 85 CDM BJ70 but I am kind of thinking ahead.:)

The frame was stripped in Eugene Oregon for $200, it was sand blasted in Hillsboro Oregon at Redi Blast for $80 and the frame galvinized at Pacific in Sherwood Oregon for $300. The old frame vin # was cut out with abrasive wheel cutter and welded into the new frame so it does still match the vehicle. The vin was inspected by the state and it passed no problem. The title still shows original numbers.

Nice. Good to know.
Prices sound reasonable also.
Sounds like it will be a great 70.
