@Pyro-boy was correct, access to the El Rito area is closed for resource protection.

9:30’ish AM Saturday 2.26.22 I’ll unload the crawler on forest service road 7 at Hwy 112 - here 36.428725, -106.832620
If I am not with the tow pig I'll be at the rendezvous/airdown point on FS 7 due east of Hwy 112 here 36.429380, -106.814055

I plan to return 3 or latest 4'ish to be home by 6

Please contact me if you plan to head up so I know who to expect. I'll start a text stream
Snow conditions are totally unknown. It could be lame or nuts. Hopefully it'll be a beautiful blue-sky day and Scout can run around so that's always good.
I do not have chains

I'd like to try a different route to the south, we'll see if its doable

Looks like I'm out. Enjoy the day folks.

Hope you have a great day!

I probably won't be doing a whole lot for a while, things just ain't going as planned.

Unless something really bad happens I will be on the vehicle recovery in the Jemez though.

Thanks for posting up. I would have loved to make this, but just got back from long trip and a bit crispy on the edges. Hope all goes well and look forward to some pix.

Scout had a blast and is crashed out now. Thanks for cutting trail and plowing the road @pappy
Sorry all you guys that it didn’t work to head up. On the plus side your junk doesn’t look like this now. I think I have mud in my teeth

85 miles on the odometer, 15 on the gps 😬😬😬

Looks like it was an awesome day!!

Oops, sorry I have not been monitoring this... the location is on Mogote Ridge off of USFS 559 north of El Rito.
36°27'21.78"N 106°18'15.56"W
The gate is now, however, closed for the season.
Thinking for the future (after May 1st) there is plenty of wheeling up this way including camping to take the sting out of the long drive.
I've been doing lots of exploring and have mapped on this otherwise tierra incognita. Hit me directly at juane1@swcp.com
