So I am putting the Safari Snorkel on my BJ74, and the part that attaches to the windshield sits too far back by about 1-2". I guess the fold-down windshield design is different than the BJ70.

Just wondering what you other BJ74 owners with snorkels have done to attach it?

Had the same problem on mine, I was a tad lazy and took the easy rout, bend the supplied bracket until it mostly fits, then also be sure the silicone the s*** out of the holes your about to drill into the pillar.

never had a problem on the few i installed...
did you test the template before mounting the base?

I had to the same thing. After bending the bracket I had to use hex bolts and an Allen key to inset the bolts, due to insufficient clearance. A bit mickey mouse, but the end result was strong enough.

now i should rephrase that question...
did you test that template for proper fit? the reason i ask is i have had a number where the template was badly off...

stick up a pic of the problem...

Here is the pic. You can see that it lines up against the thin part of the frame rather than the pillar itself.

I can fabricate a bracket easy enough, I was just wondering what other folks had done.

well, hind sight is 20/20.
basicly the rear of the snorkel is sitting about 3/8" low, take the snorkel back off and elongate the holes, this will give you the travel forward you need, then just push the top in and i pop rivit them on. that seems to hold extremely well.

Mine was the same way. Bend the bracket and loosen the bolts on the fender and push it over, centrepunch, drill and use hex bolts.
