I agree about the double taxing. It is BS!!! How can they tax a vehicle or anything else for that matter more than once?? If I buy it, I paid taxes on it. If you buy it from me, you shouldn't pay taxes on the same vehicle.

There is a weld at the bottom of the tire carrier and a weld slight further up. So, the idea is that the carrier cannot come off unless it is opened at least 45 degrees. It locks in like a light bulb I guess. Gravity takes care of the rest!

I have LA plates because I do not want to be double-taxed for something I shouldn't be taxed for. I pay enough taxes to this state on top of my gas! In my opinion, I should have been able to trade my LA plates for IL plates that expire on the same date and IL can get their money from LA! Registration is the biggest BS tax in my book!

you didn`t used 2 vehicle was only taxed on first buyer
then they started with if the tax rate was different from state to state but that only applied if the new state`s rate was higher but ya didn`t get a rebate it was the other way round surprise surprise .

speaking of highway rubbery guess will go transfer papers on da 450 & get :ban: sheared again:bang:

Not true. If I go buy a used vehicle for cash, I will pay tax on the purchase price. If I trade a vehicle in they deduct the trade amount from the sale price and then I pay taxes on that.

Huh!

talkin bout state /state double taxing

Well, ok. I was just trashing Ryan's build it thread with all this double tax talk. I was on my soap box and now I am done.

Ryan the runner is looking great. I like the way you closed in the space for the tail lights that you were constantly breaking.

So, I got to go out and play today with a local Jeep club. We had a couple of inches of snow last night and it was very sloppy today as the snow was melting and soaking into the ground. I took quite a bit of damage and overheated the motor twice. The first time I boiled out all of the water. She doesn't like to spin all fours in 2nd gear for extended periods of time!

Damage report: lost both mirros, large dent in driver door, collapsed both front fenders, lost front passenger marker light, lost driver's side rain visor, and lots of other scratches and dents. ih8mud!

I did get to beat on my near gear quite a bit and all of it held up nicely. I repeatedly bashed the rear bumper on a rock with no signs of damage. I really didn't drop on the sliders too much, but I did use them to pivot around some trees (poor boy's version of a front dig). The held up nicely as well.

Yesterday, I finished installing a new crossmember with mounts for the rear shocks. I was worried that they would break on the way to the park or at the park, however, they did really well and I was impressed with the new ride and flex. I also had to re-route the exhaust because of the new setup, which also turned out well.

In this picture, I am on the RTI at the end of the day. The tire was still firm on the ground and I could have when further. However, I had lifted the front passenger tire and the truck was starting to unload to that side. Right after I snapped the picture, the truck shifted and almost when over. Two of us rocked it back over onto the rear wheels and I was able to shimmy into the driver's seat and get it off the ramp. Scary. I didn't even know the front tire was off the ground when I first got out. I got lucky.

It was fun in a "spend the first half of the day winching up one hill, spend the second half of the day winching up another hill" kind of way. The event stated that we ride nomatter what the weather brings, and it just happened to bring greasy, sticky gumbo.

Looked sloppy glad you kept it on at least two :) and some nice flex there looks like all the parts are well thought out and executed.

I also got to pull a CJ with one of my d-links on the rear bumper. So I'm feeling more confident about my work.

I'm going to find some different mirrors that either fold flat or are removable. I've never broken one before (I kinda thought they were rubbermaid) and I don't plan on breaking another. I hated driving home not being able to see everything.

I have a softopper that I bought from someone on ttora and will be installing it once the weather gets a little warmer. Also, warm weather will bring a plate bumper and winch. I'm also hoping to install dual cases with triple sticks, a custom skid for the cases, line locks, rear discs, and hopefully some upper protection/exocage all later this year.

Building a buddy some sliders for his H3 this weekend. I can by any size steel from my supplier with no minimums or maximums. They don't carry round tubing though and my buddy wants a tube that comes out off of the slider. I called allover the cities yesterday and only found one place to supply the round tube. Due to their minimum order policies, I had to order 60', so I'm sure you'll see some tube work in the near future.

Right now, I'm gathering parts to swap in an intercooled 3L-T out of a Hilux. So that will be the next major mod you see from me.

Whoa, Diesel power.:popcorn::beer:

yup looks like Ryan will be the first to have an oil burner Toyota in the club hopefully I might make #2:)

What's holding your build up Paul? I may have some leftovers when I finish.

Nope that's sound like one big headache you are about to undertake. Because I care about you and don't want to see you stressed go ahead and ship that 3L-T to 70518 :D
