I just bought the CCOT tailgate panel with the ear tabs that attach where the lower hinges for the rear doors were, but I can't get the holes to line up right. The problem is that because of some rust, the rear sill is has raised by about a 1/4 inch on the far right and left side. Because this panel has a lip all the way along the bottom, this pushes the whole panel up enough to screw with the fitment. What's the best way to correct this in the short term?

I know the right answer is to address the rust and replace the rear sill, and I will eventually. I just want an easy fix until then. Do I try to pound on the lip to bend it up so that it follows the contours of the warped sill? Try to remove a little bit of the rusted sill material?

Maybe it will stop raining this afternoon so I can get some pics.

Thanks,
Felix

BFH.

Pound the sill down. No worries if you are going to replace it anyways.

Sounds like a good plan, thanks.
