Rust Bullet or POR15??? (1 Viewer)

Need advice on those who have used either product on the frame and under chassis. I am planning to coat before winter and want to know which is better?

I used POR quite a few years back on a front axle, and it worked just fine. My current front axle is done with the Rust Bullet and thus far, I prefer it. I liked the fact that it needed to be topcoated. It also seems to act as claimed, actually impregnating the metal/rust...I had to add some tabs to the housing, and it' took some work with a 4" sander to get a clean spot to weld to.

Not sure on longevity yet tho....hasn't been put thru a WI winter yet.

Prep is critical...the places it didn't adhere were not fully degreased.....but where it did, it seems solid.

Rust Bullet for sure

I just bought a s*** load of this stuff cause I used it once and now Im goin to finish up the rest of my project with it cause Ive kinda changed direction with it and Rust Bullet seems much eaiser to use cause you dont have to have all the other chemicals. One thing I noticed though was that POR seems to be a bit stronger/heavey duty of a coating assuming you can get all of the preapplication prep done 100% correctly. Like anything else its all about prep work like woody said, its just that the prep for Bullet is less labor intensive and not extremely different in the final results from POR.

I prefer Rust Bullet, too, because you can paint over it with other paints besides POR products. And POR topcote goes well on it, too. You are limited as to what you can put over POR, without putting on a coat of Tie-cote, etc.

I forgot to mention that using the search function should yeild you some more info. Its been discussed here and there lately. Moreover, give rust bullet a call. They were very thorough and informative with any questions I had in addition to putting me into contact with the right people for more specific questions.

thanks for the info. I did read the other posts, but was trying to get a vote from the board members one way or the other.
For those interested, it seems that Rust Bullet is the way to go so far.

What areas under the truck did you apply it to? Body undercarraige, frame, axles(?), what else?

Anyone do their floors with rust bullet and just leave it with no other top coat?

Everywhere...

So far Ive done the inside of my fenders, Winsheild channel, and many little things like my seat rails. Next weekend though, Im goin all out. Inside and underside of tub, hood, tops of fenders etc. Ill be spraying a lot of it and for that they recommended the standard Bullet cause it goes on better with a gun but underneath and on the frame Ill be using the automotive Bullet since its just a little heavier.
