Does anyone recall a snow run scheduled for this Sunday, the 7th? I had it in my memory there was one but the HDC website only shows the 1st and the 21st of this month. If I am completely wrong about the date, does anyone want to have an unofficial run? I cannot make the 21st.

i'm game! Jill is out of town 'till Monday, so i got free play time!:grinpimp:

there wan't anything scheduled for the 7th, but i'll go on both runs.

Good chance...

Jemez? I'd like to check out Dome Road between Cochiti and HWY 4. I wouldn't mind taking the route in Cibola that Ali likes to do as well.

If I can get my wheel bearings adjusted tomorrow I think I'm in. I'm sure Dome Road and everything else in Jemez Dist is "closed" at this point. That leaves either the Cuba Dist routes we've done or a poach on an ungated Jemez route. That Caja del Rio run we've done before might be intereresting with all this snow. I'm wondering if an East Mountain run is unrealistic after tonight's snow.

If I can get my front diff installed tomorrow afternoon I will see if the boss will let me.

Front diff is installed, although I think I have an air leak in the ARB, it seems to cycle too often.

Anyways, I am game for a run somewhere. I will check back here later.

mine has been leaking for nearly 2 years. those Orings are extremely picky and can't be twisted at all. i just dread tearing the whole front end apart to fix it (dana60). :frown:

glad to hear you can make it! looking forward to a good run.

Woo Hoo!

I bet we find some deep stuff...

Shall I assume an all-day run?

i would. our history of snow runs is that they usually end after dark. :D

we'll try not to make it that late, but who knows...

Jim,

I'm not sure if you have a vent breather on that IFS or not. If you do, see if you can feel/hear air escaping out of it. That'd be a sign that the locker O ring has been breached. Another possibility is that the copper line inside the diff housing is slightly rubbing on the ring gear and a hole is created; hopefully not!

Yeah, it has a vent breather. I will check that.

I just had it set up, so it really couldn't have a hole rubbed in it yet. I had to re-use the brass ferrel (sp?) so, that may be the issue.

If anyone has a brass ferrel I would gladly buy one.

Ali, are you coming tomorrow?

BTW, I am bringing a buddy with an '04 Taco on 35's with me.

Jim,

An easy to tell if it's indeed the brass farrell is to spray on soapy water while the locker is activated. It's probably ok I'd imagine but maybe worth a look. I think it's a 3/16" compression fitting farrell and you should be able to find it at Ace hardware.

I'm snow wheeled out for the time being so I wont' be going on this run. Maybe the next one..!

Have a great time.

Ali

ps I think you're going to find that even with 35" M/T tires, the progress in the deep stuff w/o using chains is going to be very slow!

If anybody is running late or anything call me at 980-0303. You might want to leave a text message as it will get through in a spot of coverage (of which there are many in the mountains). Once I get the alarm there is a phone message we might be out of cell service again.

FOILED! for some reason my battery was dead again. i got it jumped, but accidentally kicked the battery switch after getting it on the trailer and it died. it's a dry cell and takes forever to charge. i will get it fixed and be on the Jan. 21st run.

Good Times

4 of us made it out for a run today. Myself, Josh (04 Taco), Steve and Mark. We drove up through Jemez and ran a few miles up FR103 on the Cuba RD. The snow was deep and slow going but it was a beautiful day.

Elyse (my 5-yr old) and I had a good time!

More fun

Here are a few of my pictures.

The first two were a spot before we made it to 103. It was hard to tell there was even a road there. Jim gave it try an made it another 20 feet before we decided to try further down 126.

The last one was when Josh's girlfriend thought it would be fun to get dragged behind his truck on my sled.

one more

Here's how deep the snow was in the shade. Keep in mind that Jim is a pretty big guy - maybe 6'3".
