rubber (ish) matting for flooring... wich to buy?

Found an asortment of rubber materials at a surplus store. A few 40" roles and several 36" roles of rubber, neoprene, silicone, and nitrile. Thickness varies between 1/16" and 3/16" and most of the roles are 100 feet long.

I had been looking for something like this for a long time to use under the carpet of my 4x4s for sound deadening/ insulation, or as floormats etc. Local upholstry shops have only had prices that were like 7 bucks a foot for 40" !! WAY too much! Might as well keep buying factory carpeting...

Anyways, I found this deal on material... what do you think would do the best job UNDER CARPETING for insulation/ noise reduction:
IF all materials were 1/8", would you rather use:
RUBBER
NEOPRENE
or SILICONE?

For floormats I think I would want the 3/16s rubber, but mostly interested in other opinions on what would go best under carpeting. (I think rubber was the only material available in 3/16" all others were 1/8")

Neoprene is probably the toughest, but silicone rubber may be the most supple and "lay in" better. Plain old rubber would be my last choice. I bought a 4'x6' piece of rubber horse stall matt and cut it to fit. I like it

I used the same stuff they put into Fire trucks it is a two layer product. I think the company is Anich industry that has it. Tough enough for the fire dept.

A friend of mine said "Neoprene holds water", and that scared me off a little. It made me think "wet suit"... but the neoprene I saw on the roll looked solid and not "spongy". It was very stretchy like the silicone and nitrile though.
